According to Fox News, New York City has seen a 40% increase in violent crime compared to last year at this time. Sadly, the crimes seem to be getting more brazen.
On Sunday at 11 a.m., 48 year-old Goldman Sachs employee Daniel Enriquez was riding the Q subway train on his way to brunch with his brother when he was randomly shot at close range. He died from his injuries.
When riding the subway in broad daylight puts one in danger of random violence, there is a serious problem. Loyal New Yorkers and excuse-making liberals can no longer brush off the violence in the Big Apple. It is time for a reckoning. It’s time for change.
Many New Yorkers can not afford to move or take other forms of transportation, especially with rising inflation and soaring gas prices. Safety for all is a basic human right and city residents are left feeling afraid, trapped and alone.
Therefore, it is time for those who run New York City to start focusing on assuaging the fears of the people.
No one deserves to die and no one should be forced to move or stay home or avoid riding the subway. . . on a spring Sunday in order to save their own lives.
