During a student fair at Westfield High School in Indiana, a secretary and treasurer of the school’s Turning Point USA chapter was met with hostility from a local parent for her involvement with TPUSA.
The incident ensued as a boy approached a TPUSA booth overseen by Hunt in order to obtain a USA-themed bracelet. The kid was accompanied by his mother, Kailly Stanich, who is alleged to have slapped the bracelet from the hand of Hunt as she proceeded to hand it to the child. According to Hunt, who provided her perspective on the incident to TPUSA HQ, Stanich’s hostility increased after she asked the mother if she was “okay.”
“A young boy came up wanting one of the red, white, and blue bracelets we were handing out, and his mother pulled him away. I asked if she was okay, and she responded, ‘Why the f*** are you asking me if I’m okay?’” Hunt said.
Stanich then allegedly accused TPUSA of racism and disparaged Charlie Kirk as a racist as she expressed her disdain for the organization Hunt was representing.
Hunt spoke with Fox News on the exchange with Stanich, emphasizing how she was able to follow the mission of TPUSA at the student fair amid the incident.
“We got to tell [students] about what Turning Point is doing not only in our schools, but nationally as well, and the support that they bring us,” she said. “We want to help students have the opportunity to be able to openly speak about their beliefs.”
According to the Indy Star, the Westfield Police Department is investigating the incident, which consists of “an alleged battery and harassment between a kid and an adult.”
Moreover, Westfield Washington Schools is reviewing what happened between Stanich and TPUSA at the student fair, Fox News reports.
“The district has reviewed the situation with appropriate school personnel and legal counsel, has communicated to the parties involved, and has taken appropriate steps within its authority,” the district stated.
