Leftist students and faculty at Weymouth High School in Massachusetts have created a petition to REMOVE the Thin Blue Line Flag.
The petition states that “Students of color feel upset, uncomfortable, and threatened by displays of police flags. Having such symbols distracts from learning and contributes to a negative and charged school culture of hate”.
Here’s what Sarah, a Turning Point student activist on campus, had to say in response, “A small group of students has petitioned for the Thin Blue Line Flag to be removed. This is despite the counter-petition getting more than double their support. The flag would be removed from the school and would not be carried at football games. My school is extremely liberal with teachers hanging all sorts of liberal symbols.”
Seems like a whole lot of TOLERANCE on display at Weymouth…
Sarah explained the gravity of the situation and the impact it’ll have on the community, “This is important to me because every day Weymouth officers put their lives on the line to keep our community safe. We’ve lost two officers since 2009. This flag doesn’t create a culture of hate as the original petition says; it just removes the memories of the officers who died keeping the peace.”
These officers deserve our RESPECT.
Unfortunately, the superintendent responded negatively to Sarah’s outreach via email, leaving Sarah and the other students scared to push back more. In other words, they have been silenced by the administration that is supposed to nurture their students.
Not so fast, CANCEL CULTURE.
May I remind you the police have NO COLOR?
Out of respect, which is hard to come by these days, I will not disclose the petitioner’s name.
BUT, this petitioner actively and publicly sought police help back in 2019.
Now he/she is DEMANDING the REMOVAL of the Thin Blue Line flags in the school?
I will have you know that there are currently NONE on campus to begin with.
The petition does not stop at flags, but it will also include blue line masks, blue line Google Classroom profile photos, and teachers to remove any blue line stickers on their cars…
The Thin Blue Line Flag is a gesture of RESPECT to the men and women of ALL colors who have fallen and actively serve in police duty.
No matter how much the left would like it to be, it is NOT a racist flag.
This petition has about 3,000 signatures as of now.
BUT thankfully, a counter-petition has started to keep it around, as Pennsylvania has had 2 officer deaths on the line of duty since 2009, Officer Michael Davey and Sergeant Michael Chesna.
This lovely COUNTER petition currently has nearly 9,000 signatures.
After looking through social media, Sarah found tweets where the principal advocated for BLM.
Seeing how the principal felt, she wrote an essay advocating for keeping these symbols in school.
In response to that essay, the Weymouth High School superintendent called Sarah to her office, where she expressed her opposition to Sarah’s opinions. However, she did ask if Sarah would like to be part of future discussions on these arising social issues.
This is fine, and I am happy to see that the superintendent listened to Sarah’s argument.
BUT, it does not end there.
Tuesday and Wednesday of that week, Sarah was invited to a meeting of what was UNDERSTOOD to be a discussion on the Thin Blue Line flag.
INSTEAD, it turned into a “Human Rights Coalition.”
Of the 40 students present, ONLY 4, including Sarah, voiced support for the flag, which is COMPLETELY unrepresentative of the student body.
The majority of the student body is afraid to voice their opinion because of these left-wing BULLIES that harass them for speaking up.
The BLM supporters have already bullied and harassed the boy who originally started the petition to keep the flag.
These people are the minority, but those who kick and scream the LOUDEST will always be heard before the rest of the population.
This group then went to the school committee, asked for the flag’s removal, and was approved.
WE WILL NOT CANCEL our police, and WE WILL NOT CANCEL THE FLAG THAT RESPECTS THEIR SERVICE.
Thank you, Sarah, for advocating for the brave men and women who protect our streets at night.
You are fighting for their dignity.
We must join her.
