In college, I lived with a commie. She had a poster of Mao ZeDong, Vladmir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, Fidel Castro, and Karl Marx on her wall. But for some reason, our peers treated her political values (she self-identified as a “communist”) as more normal than my basic conservative values.
