In a most tragic accident, Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun on the set of “Rust” which ultimately took the life of Halyna Hutchins.
“The film’s director of photography, Halyna Hutchins, 42, was killed, and director Joel Souza, 48, was injured when Baldwin, 63, discharged the stage firearm, the agency said in a statement Thursday evening.”
There is always risk involved when it comes to firearms, and if you have ever taken ANY gun safety course, you know that one of the first things they teach is to ALWAYS treat a firearm like it is loaded and deadly. In this case, a freak accident happened, and a live round was accidentally placed in this gun. I’m sure that investigations will follow, and who knows how this story will end.
The bottom line, you have to have respect for firearms, and you have to handle them carefully. They are perfectly safe when handled correctly, and like I have said many times before, buy a gun and practice with it. You should always be ready to defend yourself and the unarmed and do so vigilantly.
