After making some incendiary comments about the Holocaust on “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg has been put on a two-week leave from the ABC show. Goldberg claimed that the Holocaust wasn’t about race but just two groups of white people fighting amongst each other. She is sorely mistaken.
Judaism is a race, religion, and culture. People fail to see it as a race because Jews have no specific historical home country. Israel fills that gap now.
Goldberg’s comments are wrong for several reasons. First, it is necessary to look at Hitler’s view when he killed 6 million Jews. Second, it’s important to look at DNA, and third, it’s important to realize the ethnicities of Jews. Adolf Hitler constantly made comments about the Jewish race and his need to exterminate them as a race. Ashkenazi, which is a sect of Judaism, shows up on a DNA test, just like African, Italian, or Spanish. Jews aren’t only white. Sephardic Jews, the other sect of Jews, are often Middle Eastern or African. Generally, people from that region aren’t exactly described as white.
Regardless of how you feel about Whoopi Goldberg, “The View” or her comments, the Holocaust was real, and it claimed 6 million lives. One should never be glib about the deaths of so many.
