Turning Point USA’s “This is The Turning Point Tour” made a stop at The Ohio State University Tuesday, featuring Vivek Ramaswamy, Savannah Chrisley, and Lawrence Jones.
Chrisley discussed the growing prevalence of artificial intelligence in the US, and how that will possibly affect Ohio’s economy and jobs.
“We can fight against data centers, but at the end of the day, they are going to exist. So let’s figure out how to work with them,” she said.
“And the question for Ohio is really simple. Are those servers going to be built here? Powered by American energy? Paying American paychecks? Hiring kids who graduated from this exact same school? Or are we going to hand that future to Texas and Virginia and wonder for the next 30 years why kids keep leaving?”
Vivek Ramaswamy spoke after Chrisley, and was later joined by Fox News host Lawerence Jones for a panel discussion and Q&A with the audience.
Ramaswamy emphasized the importance of Americans being earnest in terms of their citizenship, and described what that means.
“So what does it mean to be an American in the year 2026? It means we still believe in those ideals of 1776. It means we believe that all men are created equal. It means that we believe that our rights are given to us by God, not by our government.”
“It means,” he continued, “that we, the people, create a government that is accountable to us rather than the other way around. It means that our elected representatives ought to be the ones writing the laws that bind us, not unelected bureaucrats. It means we believe in merit, that the best person gets the job regardless of their skin color.”
Ramaswamy beckoned the audience to be the main force for changing America’s future.
“Do you want to shape the future, or do you want to be shaped by it?” he asked. “I think the conservative solution is choosing abundance, choosing excellence.”
