The era of “toxic masculinity” and “believe all women” had extremely harmful consequences. The standard was guilty until proven innocent, which resulted in cancellations, and shunning, but more serious job loss and financial harm.
Of course, Harvey Weinstein, Louis CK, and Jeffrey Epstein were truly bad guys who deserved condemnation. Right now, there are two important trials going on. Mario Batali was just acquitted of groping a woman and Johny Depp’s case with Amber Heard is jaw-dropping, to say the least. Both men were painted as monsters, but as the litigation progressed we saw that the situations were not black and white.
The vitriolic anti-man movement was pushed by liberal women to denigrate men, in an attempt to advance their own agendas. It worked for a while, but as we saw with Batali, Depp, and other everyday men, we just can’t make blanket statements of fact about innocence or guilt without knowing all of the information.
