On Friday, October 29th, New York City Mayor DeBlasio’s vaccine mandate went into effect for city employees. This includes teachers, firefighters, police, sanitation workers and so many more. Hizzoner created a vaccine requirement in the interest of public health. The irony is that the mandate has the potential to gravely harm New York City residents.
We have already seen 26 New York City firehouse companies shudder due to mandate staff shortages. What does this say about ambulances, 911 dispatchers, or those who collect trash?
Just five days after the mandate, a friend who needs to remain anonymous due to professional reasons sent me this video . . .
It shows a massive and never-ending wall of trash bags sitting on the sidewalk. According to my anonymous friend, saying that this is not related to the vaccine mandate would be improper, who has lived in the Big Apple for 22 years. This trash wall was located in the financial district in front of 50 West Street. This luxury condo building boasts of a penthouse valued at a whopping 65 MILLION dollars.
Whether you are paying 6 dollars or 60 million, New Yorkers deserve better than living on top of piles of debris. If you read the Instagram comments on my post, you will see New Yorkers saying a few things. First, they will say it’s fake, which I assure you that it is 100% authentic. Second, they will say that this is “NORMAL.”
Both arguments are deeply saddening. The second just shows that many New Yorkers are living in a delusional, brain-washed state of denial. “This IS normal. Everything here IS ok.” When in actuality, this is not the truth. Trash attracts vermin, vermin spread disease, people may get sick and die.
Unfortunately, vaccines mandates have been severely politicized. Conservative states ban them, Liberal states encourage them. In the Left-leaning states, we see shortages of teachers, police, firefighters, trash collectors, heck it even takes longer to renew your driver’s license. This creates a serious public health and safety risk that certainly seems worse than a disease with a 99%+ survival rate.
