Before slavery was finally acknowledged as a thoroughly despicable form of human exploitation, it lasted for centuries around the world. Socialism was not around for centuries like slavery was, because the statist takeover failed each time it was implemented. Those affected learned the hard way.
To this day, we can look at Venezuela and say the same thing. A beautiful place in the world that was once rich in natural resources and had a promising future, is now suffering in catastrophically, all thanks to Socialism. After Lenin founded the first socialist state, 25 other flawed leaders followed in his footsteps. Socialism sounds utopian, and often works in the beginning, and people are fooled. Eventually, the government confiscates everything from everyone, until there is no money left to confiscate, no food to eat, and no medical supplies to be found. Waiting lists for badly needed surgeries or other critical medical care are miles long… about the same sized line as the line for bread.
Socialism crumbled across the globe because the people who lived under it realized that it is not dissimilar to slavery. No food some days, minimal food other days, waiting in line for hours to get minimal food the next. From murderous regimes, to guns being confiscated, socialism is like slavery- it is an entrapment.
If you heard someone say, “the failures of slavery were all failures of implementation, this time we are really going to get it right,” how ridiculous and overall abhorrent would that be to hear?
Why do we have leftists in America leaning further and further left, trying to bring Socialism to America using those same words, “the failures of socialism were all failures of implementation, this time we are really going to get it right.”
