Imagine this. You hear a knock, knock at the door. It has an odd, frantic rhythm to it. You look out of the peephole only to see there’s nothing in view. Then you peak out the curtains and discover it is a SWAN!
Crazy, right?
For a couple residents in an English neighborhood, this is exactly what happened. A swan has been quite an annoying, unwelcomed visitor. Usually, it is people or kids disturbing your quiet time at your house. Not this time. According to Stephen Legg, one of the homeowners, the swan has been around the homes for about 7 years.
Not until 5 years ago did it start terrorizing the homeowners, though. Maybe it took two years to scout the area? Who knows…
Homeowners have reportedly heard the swan knock on doors for up to 3 hours at a time with its beak. Most believe it has a lot to do with mating season and the bird potentially being hungry.
According to Legg, the swan will start by opening the mail slot on the door. Next, it will repeatedly knock on the door for lengthy amounts of time.
On the other hand, some of the neighbors enjoy the site and believe it is quite funny. They are just happy it is not their house that is getting disturbed.
In my opinion, I believe I would’ve called animal control to have someone take care of this. But the hunter in me thinks I would take care of the pesky animal myself! (Of course only if its legal and I got the permits to do so.)
