Students participating in Turning Point USA chapters, as well as other young, patriotic conservative groups have been subject to harassment before. Events and conservative speakers have been protested, signs torn down, but this story is a little different.
At a University in Northern California, Senior Field Rep Amber Kleinke shared a video to Twitter of a student being harassed by leftists on campus because he was holding a sign that reads “Never Forget” referring to the tragedy of 9/11.
The video above depicts a TPUSA chapter member, Daniel, honoring 9/11 and the fallen victims on his campus, while what appears to be an adult woman holds up a sign with expletives directed at the student. Her affiliation with the university is unknown.
These are the harsh realities that individuals face when they decide to connect with a company like Turning Point USA, which is fighting for limited government, freedom, and remembering our history — in other words, it is worth the criticism.
The continued courage of TPUSA chapters on campuses across the country never ceases to amaze me. Chapters continue to fight back against the radical indoctrination of their peers, and continue to show grace, maturity, and kindness even when met with harsh opposition. This sort of attitude is exactly how we will change the tide and win hearts and minds in America’s culture war.
At TPUSA, we honor the victims of September 11th, 2001. We thank and appreciate the incredible first-responders who risked their lives to save countless others on that horrific day, our hearts and prayers continue to go out to the families who lost loved ones.
