The Supreme Court of the United States has announced they will hear two cases on college admissions as one set of oral arguments specifically challenges policies at Harvard University and the University of North Carolina.

Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA), the group leading the fight to have the cases heard by SCOTUS, claims that these two universities in particular “‘discriminate against Asian-American and white applicants’ by employing race-conscious admission policies,” as reported by Campus Reform.

The President of SFFA said, “In a multi-racial, multi-ethnic nation like ours, the college admissions bar cannot be raised for some races and ethnic groups but lowered for others. Our nation cannot remedy past discrimination and racial preferences with new discrimination and different racial preferences.”

The court will likely hear oral arguments early in the 2022-2023 cycle.
