Pastor Lucas Miles opened his speech by inviting the audience to give God a standing ovation for His divine intervention in the 2024 Presidential Election. He followed this up by reflecting on his 2016 sermon series entitled “What does the Bible Say About…” in which he encouraged his congregation to consider what Scripture reveals concerning moral, cultural, and political issues.
Pastor Miles explained, “For a period of eight weeks, I filled in that final blank of ‘what does the Bible say about’ socialism versus capitalism. What does the Bible say about sovereign borders versus open borders? What does the Bible say about gender…about sexuality…about the sanctity of life?” As a result of these messages, Pastor Miles said nearly 50 percent of his congregation stopped attending services resulting in a loss of half the ministry’s revenue.
Pastor Miles said he did not wear a red (MAGA) hat or endorse any candidates. Rather, he simply taught the truth of what the Bible says about controversial issues and society. He also said he had the choice in those moments to “capitulate to culture,” to apologize for not “creating a safer space,” or double down. After choosing to double down, Pastor Lucas said that since 2016, he has made it his primary mission to eradicate “wokeism” from the American pulpit.
Pastor Miles said, “We don’t get to choose what Christianity is. It has a definition. It has 2,000 years of church history. In fact, it has a really good book that guides us on exactly the primary tenets of the faith.”
Pastor Miles explained how the tenets of the Christian faith – which are also the foundation of America’s history – are being violated in society at large. He said the political left knew it needed an effective vehicle with a worldwide distribution system to deliver its progressive, Marxist agenda which has resulted in many seminaries and Christian institutions becoming compromised.
He compared the open southern border of the United States to the progressive doctrines that have infiltrated the American Church. He acknowledged that Christians and conservatives are rightly concerned about the flow of illegal immigration into the country while highlighting an apparent lack of concern about the “illegal” theological concepts and constructs that have overtaken the faith. He declared, “The walls of the church are so porous that we’ll let any doctrine in without any consideration on whether or not it’s biblical or not!”
Pastor Miles also paralleled America’s present moment in history with that of Emperor Constantine when two Jesuses also existed in the culture – one who shared His nature and substance with God the Father and one who was created without a divine identity. Like Athanasius and other Nicene Christians in fourth-century Rome, Pastor Miles said his team at Turning Point Faith was rising up once again to gather a pastors and believers who will commit to historical, biblical Christianity.
Pastor Miles said, “I believe that we have to decide which Jesus is the real Jesus. Is it the biblical Christ or is it the woke, progressive, ‘He gets us’ Jesus, who’s double-[vaccinated], tripple-masked, and bows the knee to [Black Lives Matter]? That’s the Jesus the world is present, but I see a different Jesus in my Bible who happens to be the Savior of the world!”
Pastor Miles encouraged congregants to directly confront the woke left’s ideas of morality and to respectfully challenge their pastors to preach the truth of what God’s word says about these issues.
