On December 4th, Oakland University and Oakland Community College TPUSA chapters joined forces to hold a fun event for chapter members. “Freedom Formal” was the first of its kind and showcased the excellence of these TPUSA chapters. “The purpose of the ‘Freedom Formal’ was to celebrate the freedoms we enjoy as Americans,” according to campus coordinators Taylor Weinert and Malachi Cattanach, who worked incredibly hard this whole year to create such a successful event. The night included Daily Wire’s Ian Haworth from the TPUSA Speaker’s Bureau as the keynote speaker, dancing, and a catered dinner.

After over a year and a half of strict lockdowns in Michigan, the “Freedom Formal” was a beacon of hope for young students that are now getting the opportunity to gather with each other, dress up, dance, and have a fun night interacting with their like-minded peers. Turning Point USA chapters around the country are connecting students and celebrating freedom with events like these. To join or start a TPUSA chapter, check out our National Field Program!
