It’s clear that most folks in Hollywood have never studied politics or anything for that matter. Yet, most of them seem to be so smug, arrogant, condescending, and rude. An emerging leader of this Hollywood elitist club is an aging and largely irrelevant actress and singer, Bette Midler.
What’s not irrelevant is what she recently said about the hard-working people of West Virginia. Apparently, Bette was upset that the West Virginia Senator, Joe Manchin, killed the “Build Back Better” bill. Like all attention-hungry stars, she immediately took to Twitter to say:
“What {Senator} Joe Manchin, who represents a population smaller than Brooklyn, has done to the rest of America, who wants to move forward, not backward, like his state, is horrible. He sold us out. He wants us all to be just like his state, West Virginia. Poor, illiterate, and strung out.”
In this rant, the actress skips right over Senator Manchin and goes for the jugular of the people of West Virginia, referring to them as ‘poor, illiterate, and strung out.’ Of course, Bette ultimately issued a Twitter apology for her words. However, her statement still exists and is very telling.
Whether it was Hillary Clinton referring to conservatives as “deplorables” or President Joe Biden calling Texans “neanderthal thinkers,” this is all too common from people on the left. They look down upon conservatives. They think they are better, and they certainly aren’t afraid to say it.
Often, when a celebrity’s sparkle fades and is no longer in high demand in Hollywood, they resort to engaging in liberal politics to remain relevant. Bette Midler succeeded-she is extremely relevant to the hard-working men and women of West Virginia.
