Below is my statement on the anniversary of 9/11 as I reflect back on how sports unified us as a nation following the attacks and why it’s imperative that they bring us together again:
Sports were the outlet we needed 20 years ago. I hope they realize the power and the positive effect they had and use that to bring us together again today and throughout the weekend. During college football, MLB, NFL and other games, I hope they honor the anniversary of September 11th in a way that makes us feel the pride we felt for this country decades ago.
