Public libraries around the country have refused to allow author, actor, and producer Kirk Cameron to read his new children’s book, which celebrates “family, faith, and Biblical wisdom,” at public story hours. According to a report from Fox News, Cameron has been clearly denied or ignored by more than 50 public libraries around the country.
“[Cameron’s book] teaches biblical wisdom and the value of producing the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control.”

Cameron mentioned in an interview with Fox that many of the libraries which denied him the opportunity to share his new book with their communities have instead hosted drag queen story hours. During these events, men with a cross-dressing fetish, often in stilettos playing a caricature of a woman, parade themselves in front of children and read them various books.
“The Rochambeau Public Library in Providence, Rhode Island, for instance, told Cameron and his book publisher by phone, ‘No, we will pass on having you run a program in our space.’
‘We are a very queer-friendly library. Our messaging does not align,’ the library worker also told [Cameron’s publisher] Brave Books.”

The Rochambeau Public Library does however host an event for the “Queer Umbrella” club, which is for “all members of the LGBTQ+ community who are 12+.” The club meets frequently and boasts a “safe space where teens can learn, discuss, and connect over queer history, art, community resources, and more.” Clearly, the staff’s values do not include family or any form of wisdom, let alone Biblical wisdom, which explains why they would refuse Cameron the opportunity to read his book.
The library’s website features a number of virtue signaling attempts, including an entire page dedicated to “racial justice” which includes “resources” such as, For Our White Friends Desiring to be Allies, The White Journey to Racial Awareness, Black Lives Matter: Community Read, and many, many more.
In addition to the various links provided, the library’s website also provides visitors with a helpful “white privilege checklist” which will allow “white allies” to keep themselves in-check, and remember the many transgressions they have committed — by simply being white.
All of the libraries that declined to host Cameron for a community story hour had something in common: each promoted LGBTQ agendas and hosted drag queens — just not Christian authors like Cameron.
“Brave Books told Fox News Digital on Tuesday, ‘All of the libraries that we have contacted [about possible story hours or book programs for Kirk Cameron] have hosted LGBTQ+ story times with drag queens in the past.'”

Nearly every public community library is primarily funded by local city taxes, parking tickets, book return fees, and various city projects. The city of Providence, Rhode Island provides 85% of the funds for 9 libraries in the city, including the Rochambeau Public Library. This means that how the funds are used should be beholden to the city council, and ultimately the residents and tax-payers living in the area.
It is hard to image that the majority of parents want to expose their children to cross-dressing men but not Kirk Cameron, a husband and father of six children, four of whom were adopted by Cameron and his wife. But the left has a consistent need to indoctrinate and activate the next generation, to groom them into a specific ideology that says men can be women, women can be men, and the nuclear family is a thing of the past.
