The 4 most cringe-worthy words that people say to first-time gun users are, “just pull the trigger.”
Why the heck do people always say that to new shooters? They put a gun in someone’s hand and tell them to point and shoot. And no, of course, it’s never a little .22 caliber! It’s always a freaking 12-gauge shotgun or hunting rifle, and the poor shooter isn’t being told how to properly control it.
If this is you, OH MY GOODNESS, STOP IT.
Did you see the videos shown on episode 1 of “Reloaded?” If not, definitely go back and watch it first because this might be a spoiler!
I felt so bad for the ladies in those videos because I frequently hear from students and friends that they had a similar experience when firing their first gun.
Can you relate?
And until you get the courage to shoot again and realize that the sport of shooting can be a fun and empowering experience, your thought might be, “I thought all guns kicked that much.”
Trust me, you’re not alone!
As promised, this is the full video from the clip I showed on episode 1, showing how a little bit of instruction can go a long way:
YES! YES! YES!
Even though this video was made to capture the reactions of new shooters, can we take a moment to appreciate the instructor who walked these people through the proper grip, stance, and trigger press?
It makes me so happy!
If you’re a brand-new shooter or someone who will be taking a newbie to the range soon, make sure grip and stance are talked about. And of course, SAFETY!
How was your 1st experience shooting a gun? Let me know in the comment section below!
