If you thought the Left was going to stop their calls for censorship now that they’ve gotten what they wanted, I’m afraid to tell you, you’re WRONG. Not content with throwing conservatives off social media and taking down apps like Parler that were supposed to be homes for conservatives, now the Left wants to ban ENTIRE CABLE NETWORKS from portraying conservative viewpoints.
In an op-ed for the Washington Post, columnist Max Boot makes the argument, saying:
Anyone who cherishes our democracy should be grateful to the management of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites for their newfound sense of social responsibility. We should expect at least the same level of responsibility from broadcast media — particularly from Fox News, which has the largest reach on the right.
In case you don’t realize what is happening, here, Boot is blaming Fox News for having the “largest reach on the right,” and later in the column pretty much condemns the events in Washington, DC on January 6th on Fox and other right-leaning networks for “inciting sedition” by…providing right-leaning commentary?
And though I’m aware that Max Boot is allegedly supposed to be a “conservative,” I’m not entirely sure which part of conservatism the argument for suppression of speech comes from. This is the Left’s new tactic, and they will leave no stone left unturned in their crazed quest to silence all conservative voices. Unfortunately, this will be the new normal in the coming years. The only response to this? To belittle it as the craziness it is, encourage the development and increase of MORE voices, not less.
