Last Sunday, Saturday Night Live (SNL) featured their first “non-binary” cast member to comment on the string of so-called “anti-LGBT” legislation enacted in conservative states.
Molly Kearney, who identifies as non-binary and goes by they/them pronouns, appeared as a guest on SNL’s segment “Weekend Update.” Instead of performing actual comedy, Kearney used her time on camera to lecture the audience about conservative states that are “restricting healthcare” for children who identify as transgender.
Kearney stated, “Listen to that, Michael, restricting health care for kids. For some reason, there’s something about the word ‘trans’ that makes people forget the word ‘kids.’ If you don’t care about trans kids’ lives, that means you don’t friggin’ care about kids’ lives.”
Remember when SNL was actually funny?
The cast is referring to states like Tennessee, for example, that have passed laws banning minors from receiving sex-change procedures. At least eleven other states have passed laws that restrict individuals from receiving “gender-affirming care” until they reach legal age.
It’s worth reminding that when the left talks about “healthcare for trans kids” they are referring to irreversible medical procedures that include chemical castration and the mutilation of genitals. Cutting off healthy organs is not healthcare. When doctors perform procedures like this on children, who do not have the ability to consent to life-altering decisions, that’s child abuse.
The left likes to hide behind euphemisms because support decreases when they are honest about what these policies truly are. There are a number of restrictions we put on children because they do not have the capacity to make decisions the same way adults do. These include voting, drinking, smoking, getting a tattoo, consenting to sex, and more. Despite this, the left wants you to think it is absurd to not allow children to receive sex-change surgeries. When you look past the euphemisms, anyone with common sense understands that this is unacceptable.
