Today’s addition is no exception to the insanity we see at universities nationwide–meet Dr. Franklin Feng Tao from the University of Kansas.
Dr. Tao is accused of working secretly on behalf of the Government of China and defrauding the U.S. government–from Lawrence, Kansas, of all places! According to our amazing Professor Watchlist investigative team, “In 2018, Dr. Tao was federally indicted with seven counts of wire fraud and three counts of false statements/ program fraud. In the indictment, it is listed that Dr. Tao signed a five-year contract with Fuzhou University in China as a distinguished professor. He was listed as a full-time employee. While fully employed by the Chinese university, Dr. Tao was also receiving two federal grants from the U.S. government for research he was in charge of at the University of Kansas.”
Dr. Tao didn’t stop there, though–he allegedly attempted to recruit other researchers to work for Chinese universities!
