Lefties don’t want gas prices to go down.

That seems like a crazy statement, huh? Who in their right mind wouldn’t want gas prices to go down? With inflation being at a 40 year high on top of the volatile situation in Eastern Europe, gas ain’t coming down any time soon. HOWEVER, there’s a good case to be made that lefties don’t want gas prices to come down at all.

I live in Southern California. Gas is just about $5/gallon where I live and in Los Angeles, I’ve seen photos of gas stations that are now over $6/gallon. Given the scope of the country and the world, my wife and I have had countless conversations about adapting our lives to gas prices. We factor in the price of gas when we consider driving anywhere now. I now run two miles to the gym rather than drive. And we, like millions and millions of Americans, are now thinking seriously about getting an electric car.

And that’s exactly what they want.

Now I’m not saying that there is a grand conspiracy to inflate the price of gas solely to get people to buy electric cars, but it sure is a happy coincidence. And given that getting more Americans to buy EVs would check a massive environmental box, it doesn’t seem like there truly is a rush to bring down gas prices by those who believe EVs are the only way forward, like our sitting President.

Even those EVs have become more common, over the last ten years, purchasing trends would indicate that Americans just don’t want them. SO, now that pain at the pump is finally pushing Americans to at least consider EVs, why would the left want to even tap the breaks on that? Again, I’m not saying this is a part of some grand plan. I’m just saying that the left may not be as eager to lower gas prices than they’d lead you to believe.
