Japan’s longest-serving prime minister, Shinzo Abe was assassinated on July 8, 2022 in broad daylight. The attacker used an unidentifiable weapon to shoot the former prime minister point-blank in the chest.
The Associated Press reported that the makeshift firearm was homemade, which is a rare occurrence in Japan given their extremely strict gun control laws. The gun resembled a double-barreled, shortened, or “sawed-off” shotgun.
Japan doesn’t allow the purchase of handguns or rifles, photos of the homemade firearm will show tubes, wire, and duct tape creating the shape of two distinct barrels. This is another example of a person who has a goal to commit horrible acts violence not being deterred by laws or restrictions.
A statement released by President Biden included a mention of the administration’s never-ending gun control agenda: “…We know that violent attacks are never acceptable and that gun violence always leaves a deep scar on the communities that are affected by it.”
Not all details have been released and we don’t know what the weapon was, or how it was made to fire, but it’s no surprise the current administration is already blaming firearms for this assassination.
We are still obtaining information on why this attack was carried out and how the weapon was constructed and made to fire. But unfortunately, it’s no surprise that this current administration has already begun blaming firearms in general for the horrific assassination. They don’t care about the majority of gun owners in America, who abide by the law and are responsible and trustworthy adults. Once again, it’s all about their agenda.
