Toward the end of October, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) made over 120 arrests of illegal immigrants who were found without insurance and licenses in Houston, Texas.
“We made over 120 arrests in Houston Oct. 29 — clearing our roads of dangerous, often unlicensed and uninsured, illegal aliens who should NOT be behind the wheel,” the agency stated on X.
ICE arrested what it calls the “worst of the worst” illegal immigrants by way of traffic stops, finding several offenders who have prior criminal charges.
“Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, ICE law enforcement is arresting and removing criminal illegal aliens including pedophiles, gang members, serial drunk drivers, and violent thugs,” said Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin of the arrests.
The Daily Wire first reported on this story, noting that Texas legislators investigated the number of vehicles registered by illegal immigrants in the state without a Texas driver’s license or registration.
For instance, Texas Representative Brian Harrison sent a letter Monday to the Texas DMV on the matter, requesting the department “to immediately promulgate any and all necessary rules to ensure no vehicle is being registered by illegal immigrants in Texas.”
“While President Trump has taken unprecedented action to secure our border to a historically unmatched level, and is systemically working to deport illegal aliens, it is incumbent on the Texas government to ensure all resources are being used to assist in these efforts,” Harrison wrote. “However, my office recently received alarming reports of illegal immigrants being able to register their vehicles in the State of Texas. To my shock, upon investigation, my office has verified that these reports are in fact real.”
Harrison further told the DMV that if it “fails to take prompt and efficacious action to solve this problem, I will file legislation to require DMV verify lawful status before issuing registrations.”
