The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) National Board of Management (NBM) is set to vote on Saturday on a proposed bylaw amendment that would explicitly bar transgender-identifying biological males, from joining the organization.

According to a report by the Daily Wire, the DAR NBM will meet on February 8 to vote on the bylaw. The vote, which will take place will include executive officers, state regents, and honorary vice presidents general. If approved, the amendment will be heard by the entire DAR membership at its Continental Congress meeting this summer.

The Daily Wire’s Michael Knowles previously revealed details regarding an internal DAR FAQ document which stated that “members are expected to pretend that ‘transgender women’ have always been eligible and that their inclusion took place ‘organically,’ as if implicit in bylaws written before ‘transgenderism’ was even thought to exist.”

Last month, DAR’s Texas chapter opposed the national organization’s position on allowing transgender-identifying individuals. In September, the Texas chapter, with the backing of nearly a dozen others, proposed an amendment defining women based on biological sex after a previous attempt was rejected due to concerns over the group’s nonprofit status.

The proposed bylaws states: “A woman is defined as a biological female at conception, having naturally occurring X chromosomes, exclusive of Y chromosomes, and certified as female or girl on the original birth certificate. NSDAR and its chapters may not discriminate against an eligible applicant.”

The vote follows the inauguration of President Donald Trump, whose administration has reinforced government policies recognizing only two biological sexes. Trump recently signed an executive order affirming that the US government will recognize only male and female as defined by biology.
