For whatever reason, when people find an opinion these days they get REALLY into that opinion…
It’s important to remember that ideology should not, could not, will not, and CAN NOT become your identity!!!
Now of course I’m a strong proponent of believing in something and standing up for that REGARDLESS of the repercussions. BUT that doesn’t mean we have to go so head over heels on an idea that we have to start WORSHIPING that idea…
In a recent video, I found just that. Someone who has an opinion and lets it become their identity. Not only does it not stop there, but they begin to WORSHIP this very idea, and frankly, it’s just WEIRD.
On the House floor, U.S. Congressman Steve Cohen from Tennessee declares “GLORY TO UKRAINE” in his speech.
Check out the full context of it in his transcript below:
“What Russia has done in Ukraine is immoral, it is illegal, it is against the word, the acts, the intentions of every godly character. God would not have approved. WWJD. What Russia has done deserves the entire condemnation of the world and everything we can do to condemn them and put them out of organized, civilized society is appropriate because they’re not acting as a civilized member of society…We need to punish them with all we have… Glory to Ukraine!”
Okay so obviously this guy is religious, but WHAT!?!
I mean, come on dude. Glory to GOD for everything that He has done and for His sovereignty over the world regardless of the situation we find ourselves in, but I firmly believe that declaring GOD’S GLORY to a country is just plain WRONG.
Let me repeat myself, NEVER let an ideology drain the Glory that God is entitled to, take precedent over the man himself!
