Candace Owens delivered a knockout punch to Cardi B — and poked the biggest hole yet in the stranglehold that media and entertainment have on African-Americans in this country. I discuss why on the latest episode of my podcast “Rob Smith Is Problematic.”

Let’s talk about Candace Owens. There’s the Candace Owens who has millions of followers and is an absolute beast in decimating liberals. And then there’s the other Candace, who many people don’t get to see.

The latter is the Candace who shows up with her hair in a bun the morning of the Blexit rally and puts up signs, directs volunteers, and chats with everyone who arrives to help out. The Candace who takes pictures with every single person who comes up to her after an event.

The Candace who truly believes Black America is worth saving and should not be lied to.

This last point is why she’s rightfully indignant about the political left using the nearly illiterate rapper Cardi B in an attempt to wrangle Black Americans.

And this isn’t new. From Kanye West co-signing her to her viral argument with TI, Candace has been culturally impactful for quite some time, exposing the left for what it thinks about Blacks.

There’s a deeper meaning to Candace’s latest tussle with Cardi B. It’s not just about Candace getting PR for a book or Cardi trying and failing to become a political figure. Candace Owens just exposed the game for the world to see: She exposed not only Cardi’s idiocy, but also the contempt that the left has for Black people.

Cardi raps about her WAP (Google it — but not at work or around children). She can barely speak. She probably can’t even read well. These are all things we don’t mind in rappers, but please don’t send such figures to talk to Black people about politics.

There’s a long history of using entertainers, athletes, and other celebrities to push the leftist agenda on Black (and young) people. But white entertainers are NEVER used as political avatars for white people.

This beef between Candace and Cardi proves that the left can no longer get away with engaging Blacks in these superficial ways that insult their intelligence.

The true meaning of Candace vs. Cardi is Blacks standing up and saying: Stop using illiterate rappers and bonehead celebrities to try to speak to and for us. Engage us in real ways. Assume our intelligence, not our ignorance. Because in 2020, African-Americans have options, and we will exercise them accordingly. This is bad news for the left.
