TPUSA Event at UC Davis Sabotaged by Radical Left-Wing Protesters

A Thursday “Prove Me Wrong” event held by the UC Davis TPUSA chapter was sabotaged by protesters who attacked staff and vandalized a table and other items.
The protesters walked toward the table covered with posters and quickly dismantled the canopy above the table, which they also stole. They tore down banners and walked away with them after a scuffle with staff and TPUSA contributor Brandon Tatum.
Foam boards were also smashed by the vandals. They even attempted to steal iPads and laptops but the TPUSA staff was able to retrieve these items.
Police reportedly didn’t do anything about the attack on the staff and table.
Jackson Bonner, Co-Chair of the UC Davis chapter, discussed the incident on Real America’s Voice on Friday.
Bonner described what happened from his perspective: “Approximately 30 masked Antifa protesters arrived and immediately resorted to violence.”
Six campus police officers stood by and did not intervene, according to Bonner.
“The left’s attacks yesterday just shows they do not have the facts or knowledge to fight off our ideas,” he said as an explanation as to why the protesters were violent and unwilling to debate calmly.
UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May issued a statement Friday on the incident:
“I want to unequivocally denounce the violence that occurred yesterday on the UC Davis campus during a student-sponsored event. What happened was appalling and completely unacceptable. There is zero tolerance for violence on our campuses — zero… It remains unclear whether the masked perpetrators were outside agitators or individuals affiliated with the university. Regardless of their affiliation, all steps will be taken to hold those who were responsible accountable for their actions.”
The Chancellor further stated that any UC Davis students or employees “involved in this vicious attack.. will face disciplinary action in accordance with university disciplinary policies.” These “individuals may also be held criminally responsible through the justice system.”
UC Davis has a history of being unwelcome and hostile to conservative figures. In 2023, students vandalized an event with Charlie Kirk.
“UC Davis is probably the most militant school in the country, with the largest Antifa presence,” Kirk said. “When I spoke there in March of 2023, Antifa foot soldiers vandalized the school, smashed windows and fought the police. What we have is a pattern, with no signs of improvement.”
Kirk laid out several actions that should be taken by the university to ameliorate the situation and the possible consequences if no one is held accountable for the incident.
“Arrests need to be made. Radical anarchists will keep resorting to more and more violence if they think doing so will stop conservatives from speaking. UC Davis must credibly show they are willing to protect the constitutional right to free speech and free assembly on a public campus. If they won’t, then the Trump Administration should investigate their continued receipt of federal taxpayer dollars.”
