‘What Sense does that Make?’ John Amanchukwu Asks School Board About Library Book and Bathroom Policies

Pastor John Amanchukwu Reads from Book During Denver Public Schools Board Meeting

TPUSA Faith Contributor John Amanchukwu addressed the Denver Public Schools Board of Education during a meeting on Wednesday, discussing a controversial book along with a concerning high school bathroom situation.

The pastor read quotes to the board from the book “I Am Jazz,” which is featured in the district’s elementary school libraries. Amanchukwu quoted a section in which the protagonist states “I have a boy brain but a girl body. This is called transgender. I was born this way.”

“That is a lie!” the pastor said in response to what he read, citing the Bible passage of Genesis 1:27. “There are only two sexes: male and female.”

Amanchukwu then explained to the board why this book being present in elementary school libraries is morally problematic:

“[F]or you all to put this kind of content and give access to children to read it is a rather dastardly deed and corrupt; it’s mental rape because it assaults the innocent of children who are at the age of 5, 6, and 7.”

The pastor also relayed a serious matter regarding a restroom situation at the district’s East High School. The DPS board is under investigation because they replaced a women’s restroom at East High School with an all gender restroom on the building’s second floor, pressuring women to use the same restroom as men on the second floor.

“The girls are going to school on the second floor having to use a restroom with a boy next to them. What sense does that make?” Amanchukwu asked.

In January, the US Department of Education launched an investigation into the DPS Board for “discriminating against its female students by converting a female restroom into an all-gender restroom in its largest high school.”

The district responded to the investigation defensive of its “all gender bathroom,” which is allegedly “designed for privacy” and “serves all students, including those who may feel uncomfortable in gender-specific facilities and aligns with our values of supporting every student.”

The district stated certain details related to the bathroom that will allegedly protect students

“The all gender lavatory has stalls that are designed for privacy, with 12-foot-tall partitions to ensure the comfort and security of all students who elect to use them. This restroom serves all students, including those who may feel uncomfortable in gender-specific facilities and aligns with our values of supporting every student. The faculty of East High School has developed a plan to supervise and monitor this lavatory, just as they do with all others. Currently, East High School has designated restrooms for male and female students in addition to the all gender lavatory.”

Turning Point USA would like to thank Dr. Bob for his contributions that allow Pastor Amanchukwu to pursue stories that shed light on corruption within the public education system.
