Texas Small Town Receives $30 Million Donation From Elon Musk
Smalltown Brownsville, Texas, is looking to get a huge payday!
Thanks to Elon Musk, the eccentric billionaire and the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, $30 million is being donated in his name to Cameron County schools and the City of Brownsville.
Brownsville Mayor, Trey Mendez recently spoke on Fox Business, mentioning he had not directly talked to Musk about the donation but has reached out to see the plans Musk has for the money donated.
Mendez noted that the announcement from Musk came as a complete surprise.
“There’s a lot of good things happening [in Brownsville],” said Mendez. “Hopefully we’re going to see some more progress with Mr. Musk’s infusion capital here.”
Some have speculated that this donation was due to the influx of immigrants from Mexico which Brownsville borders. When Mendez was asked about the surge of immigrants and how it affects Brownsville, he stated immigrant crossing has actually decreased in recent weeks.
“We’re seeing about 200 migrants coming in per day on average,” said Mendez. “[We’re] doing our best to get them in, get them out, and get processed.”
