Illegal Immigrants Reportedly Make Up 75% Of Manhattan Arrests

Illegal immigrants are reportedly flooding the criminal justice system and courthouses at rates higher than public officials are reporting, according to well-placed police sources in the city.

Police sources told the New York Post that they estimate as many as 75% of arrests taking place in Midtown Manhattan are illegal immigrants. These migrants are arrested for assault, robbery, and domestic violence.

The same sources claim that illegal immigrants constitute 60% of arrests in Queens.

Illegal immigrants are reportedly overrunning the courthouses as well. In one night, five migrants were arraigned for five separate crimes. Jefferson Maldonado, a 31-year-old illegal immigrant from Ecuador, was arrested for the fifth time. He was stealing pants and beer from a Target.

Police believe that the skyrocketing crime among migrants is a two-fold problem. They believe that because of the city’s lax bail laws, migrants know they can commit crimes and get released. Migrants are fully aware of the city’s laws and discuss the lax laws in shelter facilities.

New York City is also a sanctuary city, which means police officers aren’t allowed to work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) when they believe a suspect is illegally in the country. The NYPD is also barred from tracking the immigration status of suspected migrants.

“New York City eliminated a tool to get rid of violent criminals. What a mess,” Jim Quinn, a veteran former prosecutor for the Queens District Attorney’s Office told the New York Post.

Quinn dubbed the sanctuary city laws as “pathetic,” “disgusting,” and “crazy.”

The sanctuary city law was passed by the City Council. Mayor Eric Adams has previously called on the council to change the sanctuary city laws.

“Right now we don’t have the authorization to be able to go and coordinate with ICE,” Adams said. “We have to follow the law.”

“Turning Point USA’s commitment to the fight for freedom on campus is more important now than ever.”
