More Than a Year After the Military’s COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate Was Rescinded, No Apology Has Been Issued

On January 1, 2024, more than 200 active and retired service members signed a letter demanding accountability from military leadership, which they claim failed to “uphold” their “moral obligations.”
The current and former military members wrote to top brass one year after the COVID-19 vaccine mandate was rescinded by the Pentagon, after being, what the service members allege, was illegally implemented by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin in 2021.
In August of 2021, TPUSA reported that the Defense Secretary announced his intentions to implement the mandate in September of that year, with or without full FDA approval. His public commitments to adopting the mandate have been accused of pressuring the FDA into compliance after the agency granted the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines full approval shortly thereafter.
Despite being repealed a little more than a year later, the mandate destroyed thousands of military careers, which sent the armed forces into a detrimental recruiting drought that has affected new enlistees ever since.
“While implementing the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, military leaders broke the law, trampled constitutional rights, denied informed consent, permitted unwilling medical experimentation, and suppressed the free exercise of religion,” the letter from active and retired military members, titled “Declaration of Military Accountability” read.
“Service members and families were significantly harmed by these actions. Their suffering continues to be felt financially, emotionally, and physically. Some service members became part of our ever-growing veteran homeless population, some developed debilitating vaccine injuries, and some even lost their lives. In an apparent attempt to avoid accountability, military leaders are continuing to ignore our communications regarding these injuries and the laws that were broken,” the group added.
More than 8,000 service members were discharged from the armed forces due to their refusal to take the mandated vaccine, and so far, just 43 have returned to service. Alienated Army soldiers received a letter last year, asking the former service members to consider rejoining and offering them a correction to their military record.
Although Pfizer now openly states that young men who received the COVID-19 vaccine have an “increased risk” of myocarditis, there still seems to be a lack of acknowledgment of any wrongdoing on the part of top military brass. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was reportedly “unapologetic” in his memo announcing the end of the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for military personnel, stating that it would “leave a lasting legacy in the many lives we saved, the world-class force we have been able to field, and the high level of readiness we have maintained, amidst difficult public health conditions.”
Current and former military members, as well as the American public at large, appear to be gravitating toward a distrustful demeanor in the “science” that has harmed so many individuals.
