Elderly NYC Woman Fights Off Teen Attackers Near Subway

An elderly woman in New York City reportedly fought off four teenage attackers on her way to church service, according to a report from The Post Millennial

Lina Rosa, a 71-year-old woman from Brooklyn, fought off four teenage girls who attempted to rob her at her subway station. Rosa reportedly exited the subway system at 6 P.M. on New Year’s Day when the teenage girls confronted her and tried to snatch her purse.

Rosa told the New York Post that her inner dialogue convinced her to stand her ground against the teens.

One of the teens began the attack by grabbing Rosa’s purse and saying, “Oh, you want to fight?” The elderly woman reportedly clutched her belongings as another girl attempted to distract her. One of the teens reportedly punched Rosa in the face, knocking her glasses to the ground and leaving a cut on her nose.

Another teen snatched Rosa’s wallet with her ID and medical records.

“I was still wrestling with the first person,” Rosa explained to the Post. “Then I was trying to kick her in between the legs, but my leg wouldn’t stretch far enough. So, I believe that’s when I fell. I fell, and then she stomped on me.”

“I got up right away, and with that, I grabbed her braids and twirled them around my right hand, and then I pulled her down,” the Brooklyn native continued. She claimed that the other girls began begging Rosa to let the first attacker go.

After the struggle, the teens fled and Rosa was able to recover her items. Staff at the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church called 911 and Rosa was later treated at The Brooklyn Hospital Center.

The attackers remain at large. Rosa told the Post that she’s forgiven the teens for their actions.

“I forgive them,” Rosa said. “They don’t know what they did. It’s just teenagers acting foolish.”
