The Lessons From The “Racist” Infrastructure Debacle
As we face a supply chain crisis, a southern border crisis, an international crisis in Afghanistan, massive inflation, and so much more, it stung quite a lot to see the Biden Administration and the liberal media recently focus on “racist roads” and how we can end “racism in infrastructure.”
Here’s what happened: Pete Buttigieg is the U.S. Transportation Secretary in the Biden Administration, and he is prioritizing “ending racism” in America’s infrastructure. Recently, April Ryan, a political analyst for CNN, asked him in the White House briefing room:
“Can you give us the construct of how you will deconstruct the racism that was built into the roadways? Can you talk to us about how that could be deconstructed?”
Secretary Buttigieg replied with some examples throughout history of American infrastructure being built with “racist goals.” Right off the bat, what he’s saying sounds ridiculous- is he saying roads are racist? They are inanimate objects. Immediately, a wave of conservative commentators were quick to make fun of him for it.
But here’s the thing: this is an example of how TWO things can be true at the same time.
Why? Because back when racism- as in hating someone else because of their skin color, was a real problem America faced, before the civil rights era, there WERE racist people constructing infrastructure in ways that would keep black people out of certain areas. That’s horrible. And it shouldn’t ever happen.
But history is often filled with dark and harsh truths, not just in America, but worldwide, and that is one of them. We’ve come so far as a nation since those days, and that is thanks to the Western values embraced on American soil. The best thing we can do to keep moving forward is to learn from history in order to not repeat it.
So, I believe that our children should learn that, yes, back then, racist people behaved in horrible ways. It’s important for us to learn our real history so we can be more appreciative of the accepting and non-racist society we now live in today.
Unfortunately, our children are not just getting lessons on the good and bad parts of our history. Instead, they are being indoctrinated with Critical Race Theory, which is a cultural Marxist curriculum that spreads radical anti-white distortions of history to convince young children that America is STILL a racist country today. They are taught that believing in conservative policies and economic freedom alone can make someone racist.
Critical Race Theory, the 1619 Project, and all other similar pieces of the race-baiting curriculum are toxic, racist, and divisive curriculum that creates students to hate America. Critical Race Theory also:
- Creates white children who feel ashamed of their skin color, and…
- Creates black children who believe the entire system is out to get them and they will never get a fair shake.
It’s one thing for Secretary Pete, classroom teachers, and professors, and the media to make sure Americans know their history and how we got here, but it’s a complete other to weaponize race for divisive political purposes, which is what they are doing by inserting race into every political conversation happening today.
