New Late Term Abortion Clinic Opens in Maryland

A new late term abortion clinic advertising its services through “all trimesters” of pregnancy has opened in Maryland.

The Partners in Abortion Care clinic is located in College Park, right near the University of Maryland, which is home to over 30,000 young, vulnerable students, who are definitely not taught the gruesome realities of abortion procedures.

“Partners in Abortion Care is the only women-owned and operated abortion clinic providing abortions in all trimesters,” the website states, “we’re committed to helping people coming from areas where abortion rights have been restricted.”

The owners of the clinic, Dr. Diane Horvath and certified nurse-midwife Morgan Nuzzo, made it clear during an interview with NPR that they plan to offer abortion services through 34 weeks gestation.

Maryland expanded access to abortion facilities last year when the Maryland Abortion Care Access Act was adopted, allowing midwives and nurse practitioners to provide services. Prior to this law, only certified physicians could perform abortion procedures.

The former governor of Maryland initially vetoed this bill, however the legislature was able to override his veto by a majority vote.

“The bill risks lowering the high standard of reproductive health care services received by women in Maryland. These procedures are complex and can, and often do, result in significant medical complications that require the attention of a licensed physician.”

Partners in Abortion Care is just one out of a handful of centers around the country willing to kill fully formed babies, with lungs, a heartbeat, brain function, and the ability to survive outside the womb.

“Every time we draw a line and we say, no more abortions after this point, someone’s going to fall on the other side of that line. And they’re going to be harmed.”

The clinic, along with others in Maryland, provide abortions up to 34 weeks gestation. A full pregnancy can last up to 40 weeks, however it is not at all uncommon for doctors to induce labor at 39 weeks. These clinics operate in a gray area legally speaking, and provide late term abortions under the guise of “life-saving care.” The reality is, they are not ending a pregnancy, they are ending a life.

“Right now, abortion is legal in Maryland until ‘viability,’ which is the stage of pregnancy when a fetus has developed enough that it is able to survive outside the uterus with medical help.

The age of viability is typically considered 24 weeks of gestation. That age continues to drop as medical advancements improve however, making doctors even more capable when treating these infants. In fact, the world record for most premature baby was recently broken, when an Alabama mother gave birth after just 132 days of pregnancy, her son survived after being born at almost 19 weeks gestation.

Late term abortion clinics do not make information about the risks associated with late term abortions readily available to potential patients, however. Often times, they won’t even fully describe the brutality of the procedure. Touch is the first sense that babies develop (in utero, a baby can “feel” its face and neck at just 8 weeks) and scientific advancements continue to expand our understanding of how and when they feel pain.

Though the exact point during gestation in which a baby can feel pain is debated among scientists, even the most pro-abortion institutions will conclude that a baby can experience immense pain at 24 weeks. New research however, suggests that babies as young as 12 weeks gestation can feel pain.

“In the United Kingdom provocative images of the fetus (at 22 weeks) generated by four dimensional ultrasonography have fuelled a reassessment of fetal capabilities along with suggestions that the fetus can respond both emotionally and cognitively.”

Abortion facilities do not provide this information on their websites, and according to antidotes from women who have been patients at abortion facilities, this information is not given during consultations. The providers do not want to address the fact that the baby is a person, capable of feeling immense pain. This is especially evident during a late term abortion, when the baby is dismembered.

Abortions performed in or after the second trimester are most often Dilation and Evacuation (D & E) procedures, which are not only incredibly painful for the baby, but unfathomable to picture. A video explaining this gruesome procedure can be found below, which describes in vivid detail the realities of abortion. These realities are often brushed over with sanitized language from abortion clinics.
