On Oct 27, California Governor Gavin Newsom proudly rolled up his sleeve at an Alameda County health clinic and received a COVID-19 booster shot. According to MSN, Gov. Newsom was one of the nearly 15 million people whose first dose was the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine. This time, the Governor chose to get a Moderna booster to “make a point about mix and match,” which the CDC said was safe to do on Oct 20.

Two days later, the Governor’s office cancelled his plans to attend the COP26 UN Climate Summit in Scotland due to “family obligations.” His spokeswoman, Erin Mellon, assured that he would be participating virtually. No virtual participation occurred.

It has been nearly two weeks, and we have not seen Governor Newsom. Sure, there have been Tweets (which anyone could send), a pre-recorded statement, and a Halloween post, but no public appearances whatsoever.

People are starting to ask questions. Conservative media outlets are getting curious, even questioning whether a reaction to the COVID booster is the reason for the Governor’s absence.

A recently deleted Tweet from the First Person, not First Lady, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, didn’t assuage anyone’s concerns:

“It’s funny how certain folks can’t handle truth. When someone cancels something, maybe they’re just in the office working; maybe in their free time they’re at home with their family, at their kids’ sports matches, or dining out with their wife. Please stop hating and get a life.”

The public concern doesn’t seem to be an act of hate or a lack of life, but rather it seems to stem from genuine curiosity. Why did the Governor so abruptly cancel his trip to Scotland? Why hasn’t he been seen?

California tech entrepreneur Steve Kirsch links a substack article in a Tweet saying, “It’s been rumored that [Gov.] Gavin Newsom is out of sight since getting his booster on Oct 27 because he developed Bell’s palsy (or a closely related but more serious condition of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS)). This can happen within hours after getting his booster, so this makes perfect sense. This explains why nobody has seen him in public since he got the shot; anyone who saw him would instantly know.”

No one should ever cheer for the demise of any person for any reason.  This rule firmly applies to California Governor Gavin Newsom. At best, this is a mystery that will soon be solved. Let’s hope and pray at worst, this is all a coincidental rumor.
