Tucking and Makeup Doesn’t make a Woman
TikToker Dylan Mulvaney appeared on Ulta Beauty’s The Beauty Of podcast this week where he sat down with host David Lopez. Both Mulvaney and Lopez are biological men who identify as women.
During their hour-long conversation, Mulvaney discusses his journey into “girlhood.” Throughout the podcast, Mulvaney claims he wants to be a “mom” one day and that being trans makes him just like any other woman because “trans women are women.” Of course, it doesn’t need to be explained that this rhetoric is false.
The most disturbing part is when Mulvaney pulls out a piece of “tuck tape,” a type of tape used to tuck in a male’s private parts in an effort to appear more feminine. Mulvaney gifted this tape to the host in case he wanted to try tucking as well. Mulvaney further described this act as being a big part of his daily routine, saying that tucking is “sacred” and is “armor,” “power,” and “conformity” for those in the trans-women community.
WPATH approved techniques for transgender-identifying individuals who have not undergone surgery to alter their body parts include practices such as chest-binding and tucking. These are proven to be severely harmful, and can lead to irreversible physical consequences such as pain, fractures in the pelvis from tucking or in the ribs from chest biding, infections, digestive issues, and lower fertility in men.
Mulvaney has has massive popularity on Tiktok, having over 8 million followers. He was also invited to speak at Forbes Women’s Conference after “identifying” as a female for only 191 days.
Mulvaney has continued to mock what it means to be a woman. He is not going through girlhood, he is making a costume out of being a woman. By him putting on makeup, wearing dresses, and tucking, Mulvaney is making a mockery out of what it really means to be a woman. He even went as far as to claim that it should be illegal to disrespect his preferred pronouns and misgender him.
Dylan’s entire persona is an over-sexualized, fetishized, creepy outlook on girlhood, and no amount of makeup or dress is going to change the biological fact that he is a man.
