The Border Crisis Continues As Thousands of Haitians Illegally Enter The U.S.

The title of this article should tell you all you need to know. Yes, Haitians, not Hispanics, are illegally crossing our southern border by the thousands right now. This is because other countries understand how weak our border security is and that it’s easier to come in through specific ports in Texas. It’s so easy to illegally enter the United States that people travel to Central America just so they can make their way up through Mexico and into the U.S.

It’s estimated that over 14,000 migrants are in Del Rio, Texas, crossing over from Mexico and camping under a bridge. This crisis has overwhelmed local officials and authorities so much that they’ve shut down the Del Rio port of entry. You can see in this video how many people are currently under this bridge. From men to pregnant women to small children, all walks of life are seen hanging out here. They’re camping in tents, bathing in the river, and looking for any food possible. It’s a humanitarian crisis that needs to be addressed.

I think it’s important to note that while this crisis needs to be taken care of, the responsibility shouldn’t solely fall on the United States. Our country is in a crisis of its own. We can’t be the country that tries to save any and everyone just because their home nation is disastrous. The same way we have to try and fix what’s happening in our own country is the same way people in other countries need to take a stand and fight for theirs. Unfortunately, people are this desperate to leave their own nation, but some things gotta give. We need more robust border security so that other countries know we are not the catch-all anymore.
