The state of Tennessee will soon follow the footsteps of states like Florida and Texas by partnering with Turning Point USA to help ensure chapters can be established at schools easily and without pushback from dissenting students and administrations.
TPUSA contributor Riley Gaines made this announcement on Tuesday at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. She mentioned the initiatives set forth in Florida to ensure students can establish Club America chapters on every high school without administrative obstruction.
“We’ve seen this happen in Florida, and we’ve seen this happen in Texas, where Gov. (Ron) DeSantis and Gov. (Greg) Abbott had a press conference and announced that they would partner in this way to make sure that every public high school in the state had a Club America chapter,” Gaines said. “So, you didn’t hear it from me, but there’s big news to come in Tennessee soon, as well.”
The state will finalize the initiative on December 12, Gaines noted. She also encouraged students to take advantage of the movement’s current momentum amid the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s untimely passing.
“I will say right now, especially, there’s a lot of momentum following Charlie’s assassination, his murder, there’s a lot of momentum,” Gaines said. “Capitalize on that momentum, have the conversations.”
According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, Gaines also engaged in discussions with students on various topics while speaking in a university lecture hall.
In October, the university’s student government disapproved the establishment of a TPUSA chapter on campus, which was ultimately overturned by the university.
