San Francisco Announces ‘Guaranteed’ Monthly Income for Transgender Residents

The Guaranteed Income for Trans People (GIFT) Program, launched by San Francisco Mayor London Breed, boasts providing a monthly payments to transgender individuals living in the city. This program is meant to address “financial insecurities” in the transgender community by providing “$1,200.00 per month to those who maintain eligibility for the program for 18 months.”
“GIFT is a financial assistance program for low-income Transgender, Non- Binary, Gender Non-Conforming, and Intersex (TGI) people who reside in the City and County of San Francisco, CA. This program is currently only available for those 18 years of age and older.”

In addition to monthly payments, the city also announced that it will be providing “wrap-around” services, including “gender-affirming medical and mental health care, case management, specialty care services and financial coaching.”
“We know that our trans communities experience much higher rates of poverty and discrimination, so this program will target support to lift individuals in this community up. We will keep building on programs like this to provide those in the greatest need with the financial resources and services to help them thrive.”

Because of the alleged income inequalities that the liberal city largely blames on transphobia, San Francisco will now force taxpayers to fund transgender residents’ lifestyle, and possibly elective medical treatments, as the payments can be used at the beneficiary’s discretion.
“We hope that our guaranteed income program will be the beginning of a reparative process to change the inequities experienced by our communities, help them survive in a world that is constantly debating their right to exist, and empower them to engage in healthcare services in a meaningful and life-changing way.”
JM Jaffe, executive director of Lyon-Martin Community Health Services
The hyperbolized crisis has persuaded many socialist ideologues around California, who value a system government handouts to “solve” any problem — which ultimately results in increases in the price of goods and services. In March of this year, the Palm Springs City Council approved allocating $200,000 for DAP Health and Queer Works, which would then develop a basic universal income for transgender identifying residents.
These programs have very few qualifiers, and do not stipulate that the money needs to be spent in any particular way. It is simply a free gift, from the taxpayers of California, straight to the wallets of transgender individuals, their plastic surgeons, and beyond.
In 2021, California Governor Gavin Newsom allocated $35 million, which would be distributed over five years, to pay for “universal basic income pilot programs.” This included his “stimulus check” program supposedly for low income Californians struggling with skyrocketing inflation, gas and grocery prices. Of course, this plan of action has been time and time again criticized by economists for directly contributing to rising prices because of heavy government spending.
California is primarily leading the nation on the transgender ideology, even declaring itself a “sanctuary state” for transitioning surgeries and treatments that have been banned in other states due to their long-term physical and mental consequences.
