Former presidential candidate and Biden administration “climate czar” John Kerry acknowledged in a recent interview that President Donald Trump was “right” about the need to secure the US border.

Speaking on a BBC podcast this week, Kerry emphasized the importance of maintaining a protected border, saying it is essential for any nation.

“The first thing any president should say, any president, or anybody in public life, is, without a border protected, you don’t have a nation — I believe that. If you’re going to define your nation, you have to have a border that means something,” Kerry explained. “We have a system. I wish President Biden had been heard more often saying, ‘I’m going to enforce the law.’”

BBC correspondent James Naughtie remarked that Trump would likely hear Kerry’s comments and claim that he was right on the issue of border security.

“He was right,” Kerry affirmed. “The problem is we all should have been right. Everybody should have been right, doing the same thing, all moving in the same direction.”

Kerry also criticized his own party for failing to act on the issue of immigration enforcement, saying, “They just allowed the border to continue to be sieged, under siege.”

The Trump administration has made immigration enforcement a focal point of its policy, a shift that appears to be yielding substantial results. Recent US Customs and Border Protection data shows a sharp drop in illegal border crossings, according to a report by Fox News. Between June 1 and July 22, agents reported 5,414 apprehensions and only 986 “gotaways,” marking the lowest figures on record.

Illegal border crossings saw an immediate decline in the first month of Trump’s second term. In a social media post in March, the president declared, “The Invasion of our Country is OVER.”

“In comparison, under Joe Biden, there were 300,000 Illegals crossing in one month, and virtually ALL of them were released into our Country,” Trump wrote at the time.” Thanks to the Trump Administration Policies, the Border is CLOSED to all Illegal Immigrants. Anyone who tries to illegally enter the U.S.A. will face significant criminal penalties and immediate deportation.”
