On Wednesday, a large group of protesters at the University of Denver interrupted an event held by the Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter at the school.

The chapter was hosting Erin Lee, an advocate for transparency in the classroom concerning the transgender movement, and a showing of her documentary “Art Club,” when protesters gathered outside the classroom where the event was being held and began chanting. The chanting in the halls could be heard from inside the classroom while Lee and others attempted to address students.

Many student protesters also held signs reading “Protect trans rights,” and “Trans rights are human rights.” While in the hallway, a school administrator began addressing the protesters to reaffirm their right to protest, according to TPUSA chapter members present at the event.

TPUSA students and attendees estimated there to be more than a hundred protesters in the halls near the classroom and outside the building where the event took place.

The protesters began gathering outside of the building approximately 30 minutes before the event was scheduled to begin.

Despite the large number of disruptions, the chapter was able to successfully fill the room with interested attendees and students who disagreed with the speaker but were willing to listen to her speech.

“Turning Point USA is the largest, most impressive, and fastest youth movement in the country.”
