Last week, the state of New York has added over 150,000 people to the state’s COVID-19 death toll from long term care facilities. After reports recently emerged, this change is taking place, stating the Governor and his administration undercounted the number of COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes by as much as 50%.

In the last ten days alone, the number of people reported deceased from COVID-19 in long-term care facilities has jumped by 63%.

It is astounding to me that Governor Cuomo was hailed as a COVID hero, even writing a book on the subject and winning an Emmy for his so-called “leadership” during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tens of thousands of people have died due to senseless decision making affecting our most vulnerable populations. This is not leadership–this is refusing to take responsibility for poor actions.
