Nevada tribal rangers drove a truck through a climate activist demonstration that held up vehicles for miles, blocking Burning Man attendees from getting to the festival. Environmentalist activists were immediately handcuffed and placed under arrest.
Six protestors from Seven Circles and Extinction Rebellion can been seen in a video posted by Freedom News on Sunday holding signs reading, “ban private jets,” “burners of the world unite,” and “abolish capitalism.” The activists had reportedly chained themselves to a barrier that was used to block the flow of traffic, causing a miles-long gridlock.
Concert attendees clashed with the protestors attempting to remove them from the road before calling police. When the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribal Police Department of Nevada arrived on scene, a ranger driving a pickup truck can be seen ramming through the protestors demonstration and immediately aiming a weapon at the activists, yelling “I’m gonna take all of you out!” The environmentalists cried that they did not have any weapons, to which the tribal ranger responded that they were “trespassing on tribal land.”
Tribal rangers, unwilling to tolerate the demonstration, quickly rounded up and arrested all six protestors.
The no-nonsense approach taken by rangers was largely applauded online, with many social media users proudly stating, “This is how it’s done.”
One lawyer had a different opinion from most, explaining, “Police can only use the minimum force necessary to protect the public safety. Re-watch the video. The police could have arrested and secured the protestors sitting on the trailer before they smashed into it. The police risked life and limb by crashing into the trailer before clearing it of the protestors, and because of this, they used excessive force and the police are liable for the damages they caused.”
The majority consensus however appeared to support the rangers’ actions, insisting that “If Europe had police from rural areas of the US, they wouldn’t have a problem with climate anarchists.” Another X user stated, “This is how you deal with these losers.”
