My experience with TPUSA Visiting the Dead Sea

At the tail end of our Israel trip we made our way to the Dead Sea. Let me just tell you, this was one of my favorite spots.

Going into the trip, I was excited to visit the Dead Sea and float in the water. But I didn’t realize how incredible it was actually going to be. It is absolutely breathtaking. Definitely bucket list material. Put it on your bucket list if it’s not on there already!

As soon as we arrived at the hotel we put our swimsuits on and beelined for the water. Our hotel gave us bags of Dead Sea mud so we lathered in that and then went to float. It was sunset so the setting couldn’t be more perfect. The light hit just right (and yes, of course, we did a photoshoot).

Do not get water in your eyes or mouth. It will sting like crazy and you will not be able to see or open your eyes until you flush your face with regular water! Another thing our tour guide told us, and thank God he did, is that you can not shave for a few days prior to floating. No cuts or open wounds because the water is so salty and it will burn horribly. So remember that little tip if you ever go!

We were advised to stay in the water for about 15 mins because the body absorbs the salt and you can become very dehydrated. We stayed in for about 3 hours, so you can only imagine how dehydrated we were. The dehydration made us slap happy so we were crying laughing as we climbed back to our hotel. It was 100% worth it!

We loved the Dead Sea so much that we went back the next morning at sunrise to float. The best way I can describe this experience was pure. Something I’ll remember for the rest of my life. Complete stillness, complete peace.

The Dead Sea is truly a God made wonder. It is the lowest point on earth sitting at 1412ft below sea level. How wild is that? It is also about 34% salt, making it 10 times salter than any ocean water. You know how salty the ocean is so you can imagine how incredibly salty the Dead Sea was. The sea is also completely dead. There are no birds, fish or even plants living in or around the Dead Sea. Hence where it gets its name! One thing I didn’t expect is how beautiful and clear the water is. It is a gorgeous blue color and it feels like warm bath water. The water also has so many healing properties. And for the nay sayers, I’m telling you, ALL people float. It’s mind blowing. It’s the most bizarre but epic experience all in one.

Our entire time at the Dead Sea was euphoric. I highly recommend visiting it one day. To see so much beauty in nature but to also see so much history come to life was a once in a lifetime feeling!

“I want to congratulate Turning Point because you’re creating a change that will affect us for decades.”
