LSU Student Kicked Out Of Sorority For TikTok About Transgender Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine

On April 9th, 2021, Emily Hines, a freshman at Louisiana State University, and a current member of the St Tammany Parish Activism Hub in Louisiana, was kicked out of her sorority, Alpha Phi, for posting a TikTok video about the science behind transgenderism.

The TikTok, posted on April 2nd, stated White House Health Secretary Rachel Levine, who identifies as a transgender woman, was scientifically a biological male. Hines defended her statement by saying, “that TikTok is not only a scientific fact (men can never be biological women), it is scientifically impossible due to genetic and chromosomal makeup.”

Even though Alpha Phi at LSU has promoted Black Lives Matter content on their page multiple times, the sorority kicked her out claiming her TikTok was taking a political stance.

Considering Alpha Phi engaged in the politics of supporting BLM, which is the most popular political movement in America and was even founded by self-described “trained Marxists,” the message is clear: political content is allowed by Alpha Phi as long as the stance is politically correct and aligns with the left.

An initial email and text was sent to Hines at 1:18pm on April 5th to Hines from the Vice President of Health, Wellness, and Accountability asking her to remove the post. As soon as Hines saw the email and text at 6:00pm that day, she removed the post. According to the Alpha Phi by-laws, a member must be allowed 12 hours to remove a post before being summoned to a judiciary board hearing.

Hines was only given 4.5 hours before being summoned with an email saying, via an email stating, “this hearing is to discuss your violation… More specifically, you allegedly violated Alpha Phi’s standing rules by posting inappropriate social media content.”

72 hours after the hearing, Hines received an email saying:

“It is with sincere regret that we inform you that the actions of the International Executive Board to terminate your membership in Alpha Phi International Fraternity became effective on 4/09/2021.”

In response to the actions of Alpha Phi, Hines said, “I’m not upset about it at all, but I’m upset at the hypocrisy and one-sidedness…They violated their own by-laws by only giving me 4.5 hours, they violated their own by-laws by claiming to not take a political stance yet posting about BLM, and they’ve violated by-laws by failing to take action against other members who have ACTUALLY violated by-laws, whether it be with indecent language, alcohol, or politics.”

Hines is seeking legal action after paying over $2,o00 in February to join Alpha Phi, explaining, “I’d like to take legal action, and am pursuing it, so I can not only get my over $2k I paid in February, but also shed light to the clear bias from Alpha Phi.

LSU’s own permanent memorandum 79, on “Freedom of Speech and Expression” states, “the University strives to ensure the fullest degree of intellectual freedom and free expression on campus.”

It appears the university has stopped ‘striving.’

Their assurance to stand by their own rules and protect intellectual freedom and free expression appears to be nothing more than a farce—a simple hat tip to liberty despite the fact students deserve so much more.

The reality is, universities who refuse to take a stand against the encroaching, silent snare of the socialist agenda have no place in our society.
