Eric Adams Flips on ‘Sanctuary State’ Stance, Says Migrants will ‘Destroy NYC’

New York City Mayor Eric Adams sparked controversy with his recent comments defending city efforts to provide migrants with housing. In the past, Mayor Adams has stated that local citizens should do the “Christian thing” and open their homes and the hotels of New York city to these migrants.
Now, it appears that Mayor Adams has admitted that the overwhelming number of migrants in the city is an issue. The New York City Mayor has stated that the large influx of migrants from the southern border is an issue that will “destroy New York City.”
“I’m gonna tell you something, New Yorkers, never in my life have I had a problem that I didn’t see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this.” Mayor Adams said.
Conservatives have voiced concerns over the large inflow of illegal immigrants for quite some time. Despite this, many prominent figures on the left have branded conservatives as racist and xenophobic for their beliefs. It is only now, when the issue directly affects large liberal cities, that they are agreeing that this is an issue.
Mayor Adams previously welcomed immigrants from the southern border, claiming that New York City would become a “sanctuary city” for migrants in need. Now, Adams is faced with the harsh reality of what happens when a community allows a large number of undocumented citizens that place a strain on public resources.
Could this realization be enough to convince leaders in large American cities that they’ve been wrong about their views on illegal immigration?
