A Conservative’s Guide to Handling Internet Trolls
Plainly said, it’s not easy being conservative. The tolerant and sympathetic left frequently calls us names and troll us online. It makes us mad and hurts our feelings, so what do we do?
Here’s your three-step, easy guide to handling internet trolls:
- Get a thick skin.
Everyone is brave behind a keyboard. It’s anonymous, it’s easy to fire off an insult, and there are no repercussions. Comments are made flippantly without thought. You cannot take them personally-no matter WHAT!
Instead, you must laugh. You must brush it off. You must go on. If the comments hurt you, shake it off. If they stop you from expressing your conservative values, they win. - Don’t Engage
There are standards, and then there are the higher, harsher, and unfair standards to which conservatives are held. The left will scrutinize every text we send, every message we write, every comment we post.
Every word you say can and WILL be held against you. Don’t give them any ammunition. No response is a response. No response is the BEST response. Saying nothing says everything and shows them just how little you care about their words and insults. - Stay Classy
In your own social media posts and your in-person confrontations, RISE ABOVE. Maintain the highest level of decorum. Don’t use foul language; speak over your detractors, scream, or cry. Speak in a low voice and use expressions like, “I am sorry you feel that way.” Be positive because no matter what, you have values, and having values is something trolls can’t take away from you.
