99% of Illegal Migrants Allowed to Stay in US Since 2021: Congressional Report

A Congressional report released earlier this week found that 99% of illegal immigrants who have entered the U.S. have been allowed to remain in the country since 2021.

A Congressional report released earlier this week found that 99% of illegal immigrants who have entered the U.S. have been allowed to remain in the country since 2021.

The report, initiated by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and Immigration Subcommittee Chairman Tom McClintock, claims that “at least” 2,148,738 illegal immigrants have been released into the U.S. since 2021. Just 6% of these individuals were screened to determine whether or not they qualify for asylum.

“[E]ncounters of illegal aliens on the southwest border surpassed 100,000 for the 31st straight month and total southwest border illegal alien encounters exceeded 2.2 million in the first 11 months of fiscal year 2023,” the report reads. “In August 2023, encounters of illegal aliens at the southwest border skyrocketed to 232,972, and the unreleased encounter numbers for September 2023 will reportedly shutter previous records, exceeding 260,000 encounters in a single month. Meanwhile, more than 1.7 million known ‘gotaways’ have evaded Border Patrol and escaped into the interior since January 20, 2021, with untold numbers of unknown ‘gotaways’ avoiding detection during that period.”

Additionally, the report claims that just 5,993 illegal immigrants who were scheduled to be deported were seen by an immigration judge. “There is virtually no enforcement of our immigration laws,” the report’s authors added.

A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) pilot working to track illegal cartel movement on the southern border told Frontlines that several Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents have been pulled from their posts to assist in processing facilities, where apprehended migrants are given a “notice to appear” (NTA) in court — often months or years in the future. Border Patrol agents in Yuma, Arizona told Frontlines that up to 90% of immigrants given NTAs are no-shows on their court dates.

The report conducted by the House Judiciary Committee and the Immigration Subcommittee echoed these comments, adding, “Because of the unprecedented border crisis, some Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have been forced to abandon arrests and removals of aliens, including criminal aliens, to process the illegal aliens who have arrived at the southwest border.”

More than 70,000 illegals who arrived in the U.S. within the past two years have come from Middle Eastern nations, sparking a new round of discussions in Congress surrounding American national security following the invasion of Israel by the terrorist organization Hamas which has left at least 22 American citizens and more than 1,200 Israelis dead.

“It only took 19 Al Qaeda operatives to kill nearly 3,000 Americans on September 11, 2001,” Senator Tom Cotton, a ranking member for the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Criminal Justice and Counterterrorism, said in a statement to the Washington Examiner“Many, many times that number of known terrorists have surely crossed our southern border … [illegal immigration is the] gravest terrorist threat to the U.S. homeland.”

National security concerns were amplified after former Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal called for a “mobilization” on Friday, October 13, to “all scholars who teach jihad” and announced that “this is a moment for the application [of such beliefs/theories],” according to Reuters. In a statement provided to the outlet, Meshaal said, “Tribes of Jordan, sons of Jordan, brothers and sisters of Jordan … This is a moment of truth and the borders are close to you, you all know your responsibility.”
